What is fold forming some of you might ask? Foldforming is a technique of metalworking whereby metal is folded, repeatedly forged and annealed, and unfolded; at which stage it generally has a dramatic new three-dimensional form.
Students will have the opportunity to create multiple three- dimensional sculptural objects (approx. 10” tall x 8” diameter) which they might choose to combine or leave as individual pieces. The shapes created and skills acquired may be used for sculptural or architectural applications.
The workshop will be using similar techniques as showcased in David’s demonstration, therefore watching at least part of the demonstration prior to participating in this workshop is advisable and can greatly benefit the student. This technique-based workshop is designed for any skill level. Students are encouraged to bring their own favorite pein and rounding hammers.
